Embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki faced no respite from his travails when he was home in Ilorin last Friday.

The Senate President experienced some shaming from worshipers in a mosque who disrupted prayers by the imam for the Senate President.

According to Sahara Reporters, after attending a wedding at the palace of Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Mr. Saraki hurried away to attend Jumaat prayers at the Sharia Court Mosque, avoiding the nearby Ilorin Central Mosque where he had been heckled and stoned in the recent past.

He went instead to the Sharia Court Jumaat Mosque located on Ahmadu Bello Way, a more controlled environment surrounded by administrative offices, including the office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Kwara State headquarters of the State Security Service (SSS).

Apparently he wasn’t safe there either, while he wasn’t stoned, he was embarrassed in a different way. The Imam of the mosque, Justice Salihu Muhammed, who is also the Grand Khadi of Kwara State announced that prayers were going to be delayed a little as a VIP was yet to arrive.

When Saraki did arrive, the Imam began to pray for him that he defeat his troubles and travails.

The worshipers were having none of it and immediately started chanting ‘Sahu!’ The word meant that they wanted their Imam to enter the spiritual line of praying to Allah.

The surprised Imam, quickly concluded the prayer for Senator Saraki and started the Jumaat prayer.

The Senate President, mildly embarrassed, made a quick escape once the Jumaat prayer was over.
