Imo LG polls: Analyst advises PDP, other political parties against boycott

1 Min Read

A political Analyst, Mr Emmanuel Uzor, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties in Imo not to boycott the forthcoming local councils poll scheduled for September.

Uzor told newsmen in Owerri on Thursday that the boycott would confer overwhelming victory to the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

According to him, participation of various political parties in the planned local election will help in stabilising democracy in the state.

He noted that the beauty of democracy lied in strong opposition, as such any form of apathy would amount to conceding undue victory to the APC and jeopardising democratic governance.

Uzor added that the participation of all political parties in the election would offer choices to the electorate and minimise any attempt to manipulate the electoral process.

The analyst said the parties should also take measures to ensure that the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) conduct the election in accordance with the law.

He appealed to Gov. Rochas Okorocha to allow for free, fair, credible and all-inclusive poll, to ensure transparency.(NAN)
