Insecurity Central: Delta State Records 222 Robberies, Kidnappings In 30 Days

According to the Delta State Police Command, no fewer than 222 armed robberies and kidnap cases have occurred in the last one month.  However, the Police claim to have rescued only eight victims and killed 36 suspects.

Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, the State Commissioner of Police, who confirmed the figure, ascribed the successes to the genuine intelligence gathering and inflow of information from good citizens that had sustained their support in the war against criminals in the state.

Aduba revealed that many of the cases were recorded in Warri, Ughelli, Abraka and Asaba axis.

He also disclosed that two senior members of a vigilante outfit in Abraka were arrested for armed robbery.

He further added that two members of a notorious kidnap gang terrorizing Abraka were killed by his men during the course of effecting arrest.

According to him, the suspects before their death confessed and revealed other members of the gang adding that the gang was responsible for the abduction of one Josephine Okoduwa, wife of a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, and series of armed robbery and kidnappings in the state.
