There was outrage on the streets of Abuja yesterday when campaign posters of  Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, flooded the streets. Reacting to this development, the President has promptly disassociated himself from the campaign posters which depicted the flag off of his interest in the  2015 presidential race.

The launch of the campaign materials, if authorized, contradicted the President’s claim that he had not yet decided on the 2015 poll as he was concentrating effort on transforming Nigeria in line with his manifesto to give the people a ‘fresh air’.

However, the president denied having anything to do with the poster s or those that printed them asserting that no one was authorized to do that.

The  campaign posters  which was deliberately y posted in noticeable areas of the Federal Capital Territory on New Year’s Day did not carry names of the sponsors.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, the president noted that his major concern for now was to deliver on his mandate and should not be distracted by the politics of 2015.

Abati said,“It has not come from the president. Nigerians should take the president on his word and ignore any other information to the contrary.  The president has not launched any campaign; he believes that those doing that are playing games. There is no reason for the president to engage in any form of scaremongering. He has said that by 2014 his position on the 2015 presidential race would be made public. Nigerians should wait till then”.
