President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday marked five years of taking over the leadership of the country as the substantive President.

The President was sworn-in on 6th May 2010 by the then Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, after the death of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

During the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Jonathan took his ministers by surprise when he announced the birthday of an unknown person.

After the religious rendition of the national anthem, Jonathan said the national prayer would not be taken but a special prayer would be said for that unknown celebrant.

When none of the ministers could unravel the riddle of who actually had his/her birthday among them, Jonathan said yesterday made it the sixth year since he took over the mantle of leadership as the substantive president of the country.

The ministers, taken aback by the surprise announcement and begun to clap.

Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo said the Christian prayer while the Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, said the Muslim prayer.
