The Kebbi state government has announced the dismissal of an examination officer and the suspension of two other secondary school teachers in Birnin Kebbi for allegedly having sexual relations with female students.

Commissioner for Education, Mohammadu Aleiro, said the state government took the steps following a report submitted by a committee set up by the ministry of education to investigate the allegations against the teachers.

He warned that any teacher in any public or private school caught having an illicit affair with a female student would be dismissed and prosecuted.

Aleiro also urged female students in the state to concentrate on their studies and avoid illicit sexual relations with their teachers.

Speaking on the efforts of the state government to improve the standard of education in the state, Aleiro said efforts were being made to get about 398,000 children of school age presently out of school back to the classrooms.

He added that the state was working round the clock to meet the Dakar Declaration on the number of out-of-school children in the state.

He also noted that the state government, within one and half years, had spent over N1.6 billion to renovate and build more classrooms to accommodate more children in primary and junior schools
