LAWMA emerges as best service delivery agency in Lagos State

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Thursday joined her counterparts in the Lagos state to mark this year’s Service Charter Week.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Service Charter Week is an annual event that encourages efficient service delivery among the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Lagos State Government.

The theme of the programme is “Promoting Seamless Access To Government Services’’.

In his remarks at the occasion, the General Manager of LAWMA, Mr Segun Adeniji, said waste management in Lagos State has come a long way with series of reforms adopted to ensure efficient service delivery by waste managers in the state.

 

 

He said the government, in a bid to improve service delivery and total compliance to best international practices in the waste management sector, introduced the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), which will take effect in September 2017.

As part of events marking this year’s Service Charter Week, LAWMA was chosen by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) as the best agency of government in service delivery, amongst 14 other agencies.

NAN reports that some of the other agencies present were the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency(LASEPA), Motor Vehicle Administration, Lands Bureau, Physical Planning, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

The residents were educated on the new Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), which was launched by the State Government to give a facelift to the environment in the state.

 

 

The residents were also urged to cooperate with the initiative to ensure its successful implementation.

NAN reports that part of the activities to mark the end of the programme was a road show by LAWMA to afford residents the opportunity to ask on-the-spot questions and get clarifications on issues affecting their environment.(NAN)
