Legendary Yoruba Writer, D.O Fagunwa Remembered by Family

The family of late sage and foremost Yoruba writer, D.O Fagunwa have held a communion service to commemorate 53 years of his departure.

The communion service was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at St Luke’s Anglican Church,Oke-Igbo,Ondo State.

Fagunwa was the pioneering author of great novels in Yoruba language such as ‘Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmale’ and four other imaginative books.

Late Fagunwa died at the bank of River Wuya, near Bida, in present day Niger State, on his way back to Ibadan, from a working visit to Kano. He was buried on the 10th of Dec, at the St Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Oke-Igbo.

The widow, Mama Elizabeth Adebanke Fagunwa and the son, Dipo Fagunwa, also formally, launched a book, “Of Rusts and Gold ( Snippets of History )”, written by Hon Femi Kehinde. The book has a chapter on the life and times of D.O.Fagunwa.
