Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s niece, Chisom has released an Instagram post calling for support for equal rights for gay people.

She released this post on National coming out day, Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Her post read;

Every •HUMAN• regardless of color, religion or •SEXUAL ORIENTATION• should be entitled to the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field, of public life. •SEXUAL PREJUDICE• is socially unjust and dangerous, and we should not allow it continue to remain a divisive marker among us. Think of equality as neither race-based nor gender-based. Think of it as based on the actions of each and every •INDIVIDUAL• @eastern_pride_center #NCOD2017 #NationalComingOutDay #EasternCTPrideCenter

After her post, some blogs (not The Herald) had erroneously referred to Chisom as a gay.

Chisom has since denied being a lesbian and said she posted the tribute in order to show solidarity with the homosexual community.
