At Long Last! T-Pain Drops His Collab Project With Lil Wayne

T-Pain teased his long-lost collaborative project with Lil Wayne on Wednesday, inspiring a wave of speculation about a potential release date on Wednesday night, T-Pain tweeted an image of a possible T-Wayne album cover saying: “Do it? #TWayne,” and on Thursday (May 18), he did.

This comes nearly a decade after, T-Pain had responded to fans’ impatience for the Wayne collab project in an MTV News interview. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely we can discuss it, man,” Pain said in 2008. “I’ve been doing an album with Lil Wayne. It’s called T-Wayne: The Project.

T-Pain’s interview was affirmed by Wayne in his own interview that same year, highlighting the similarities in his and Pain’s creative energies. “He loves to be creative, he loves to work; I love to create, I love to work,” Wayne explained to MTV News. “He really wants people to respect his rapping; I really want people to respect my harmonising.”

Pain’s surprise drop arrives amid reports of Tha Carter V—another long-awaited Wayne release—possibly arriving soon. In April, Wayne re-teased the album’s release with a “Fuck Cash Money” message to an audience in Dallas, Texas.

Birthed from the late 2000s era, the tracks feature production from celebrated producers Tha Bizness (Chris Brown, Jeezy) and Bangladesh (Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj).
