Police in Sau Paulo, Brazil are hunting for a man who dressed himself as Santa Claus and stole a helicopter in preparation for “Black Friday” Christmas shopping.
The un-named man rented the helicopter, a Robinson model 44, from an air taxi service in the city of Sau Paulo just so he could use it as a Black Friday “surprise”, security officials said on Saturday.
The helicopter was initially flown by a pilot of the air taxi service, but the “Father Christmas” reportedly forced the pilot to fly to a small farm on the outskirts of the city, where a third person met them.
However, the pilot was later tied up while the Santa and his companion flew the helicopter away.
The pilot was able to escape after several hours of being tied up to report the incident.
According to local police, there has been no sign of the helicopter.
