A father of three in the ancient city of Benin, Edo State reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday after he was fired from his job as a driver with a transport company.
The lifeless body of the deceased, identified as Patrick Essien was found dangling from the roof of his toilet located within his home at Imasabemwen Street, off Siluko Road, Benin City.
His body was discovered after a co-tenant had gone to use the toilet, but after knocking repeatedly on the locked door without a response, peeped through and saw Patrick’s body hanging from the roof.
It was also learnt from his co-tenants that the late driver was very friendly, hard-working and had been living at the residence for the past 14 years without any wife or children, but had told told them about his wife and three kids somewhere.
According to them, “we saw him this morning. He said he was sacked and we later found him dead in the toilet.”
His corpse was later taken away by the police.
