Memorial of Drowned Syrian Boy ,3, Holds in Canada

A memorial ceremony will be held today for three-year-old Alan Kurdi whose lifeless body was found on a Turkey beach.

He was said to have drowned along with his mother, Rehanna and older brother, Ghalib while the family was fleeing conflict in Syria on a boat that capsized on the way to Greece.

The lifeless body of the boy sparked a world-wide outcry that focused the world’s attention on the unending battle in Syria.

“Because of them, probably the world is going to change and those refugee like me, myself, they will have hope,” Kurdi’s father said.

The surviving father, Abdullah Kurdi, was flown to Syria by the Turkish government to bury his family on Friday.

The memorial will be held in Vancouver, Canada where a few members of Kurdi’s family now live.
