A man who was suspected to be the former president, Laurent Gbagbo, was attacked and beaten by some men who spotted him while walking on the streets of Paris.
As it turned out, it was a case of mistaken identity, as the man who was beaten and chased across the street was later seen to be an innocent man with strong facial resemblance with the Ivorien president.
Laurent Gbagbo ’s administration, which ended unceremoniously in 2011, was shrouded in allegations of fraud, murder, rape and persecution. He is currently facing trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
