Monkeypox continues to spread, new cases reported in Akwa Ibom

The Monkeypox epidemic has been confirmed to have spread to Akwa Ibom from Bayelsa state where it was first reported.

This was confirmed by the Akwa Ibom state government.

Mr Charles Udoh, the commissioner for information and strategy said on Sunday, October 8 that one case of the disease has been identified while two others are currently being investigated.

The was also confirmed to have spread to Rivers state. According to the government three (3) cases of the disease has been recorded.

Professor Princewill Chike, the state’s health commisioner announced the incidents as he spoke with journalists on Friday, October 6.
