The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said on Saturday that four Mexicans have been arrested in connection with a super methamphetamine laboratory discovered in Asaba, Delta State.

The agency said that, alongside the Mexicans, four Nigerians were also arrested with 1.5 kilograms of the drug, which has a street value of $1 million (N200 million).

The Nigerians suspects were identified as Chief Chibi Aruh, William Ejike Agusi, Umolu Kosisochukwu and Umolu Ckukwemeka, while the Mexican suspects were identified as Cervantos Madrid Jose Bruno, Rivas Ruiz Pastiano, Castillo Barraza Cristobal and Partida Gonzalez Pedro

The NDLEA Chairman, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, said the agency had reason to believe that the Nigerians were the joint owners of the factory while the Mexicans were hired for their expertise in the production of the drug.

According to the agency, a kilogram of the drug has a street value of $600,000.

The laboratory is capable of producing between 3,000 – 4,000 kilograms of the drug per production circle, similar to the type of such facilities in Mexico.

The factory is capable of producing drugs with a street value of $2 billion (N400 billion), the agency said.

Other members of the group were apprehended in simultaneous raids on their premises in Lagos and Obosi in Anambra State.
