President Jonathan has cleared the air on a contentious issue that has been at the forefront of the debate on his attitude towards fightingt he war against Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

Many Nigerians have called on the President severally to unveil the sponsors based on what the President has now called fictitious media reports that he said, “Boko Haram has infiltrated my cabinet”.

The President said his words way taken out of context by social media news channels. He said occasionally some of the bloggers make him question if he actually said what he was quoted to have said.

He said he did not state cabinet but used the term government.

“The cabinet is made up of President, Vice President, and ministers. He said the National Security Adviser attends, Secretary to State Government attends, and Chief Economic Adviser attends the meetings,” the President explained.
“I said in Government and you will agree with me that at the time a Senator was being prosecuted for involvement in Boko Haram. A judge was dismissed for involvement with the sect. And now we have some security agents being investigated.
“Government encompasses Federal, State and Local. And you have the police, air force, army, navy etc.”

Speaking on the similarities between Niger Delta militants and Boko Haram , he said the Niger Delta militants were not terrorists.

“The Niger Delta militants were not terrorists. I met Asari in the state house for the first time when Obasanjo was President. The Niger Delta militants always came for meetings with governments. Boko Haram has never sent a delegation to meet with Government.”

He said the ideology of the sect was not clear as they started by bombing churches to start a religious war, which failed and then bombed mosques and then started a free for all, killing people in market places and motor parks. He said Niger Delta militants never killed innocent people.
