Nigeria Vs Poland: Eagles Will Play Well Without Mikel – Onazi

1 Min Read

Although Super Eagles’s captain and most-experienced player, John Mikel Obi will not be playing, Nigeria will put up a good showing in the friendly game against Poland today.

The assurance is coming from midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, who will captain the squad in the absence of Mikel.

Mikel, a Tianjin Teda player, is unable to partake in the match due to issues related to his work permit in China.

But Onazi said the rest of the squad will ensure that the captain’s absence is not missed.

Onazi, the Trabzonspor of Turkey player, said, “Yes, we are doing well and everyone is happy to be back again to represent our dear country and the spirit here is very high. The training has been going on well and come Friday night we will be ready to take to the pitch.

“We all know our captain will be missing from the game, but I’m confident the rest of us here can hold our own and give Poland a good game. Hopefully, we will win for him.”
