Nigerian Stocks Rise Higher At Close Of Trade

Nigerian stocks rose higher after trading closed on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.60%.

The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 5.11% or 1.19 points to trade at 24.49 at the close.

Meanwhile, Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) added 1.44% or 0.08 points to end at 5.63 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was up 1.38% or 1.09 points to 81.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which fell 2.19% or 0.14 points to trade at 6.30 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 1.54% or 0.01 points to end at 0.64 and Stanbic IBTC Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 17.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 16 to 14 and 60 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.05% or 1.06 to $50.76 a barrel.

Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 2.39% or 1.26 to hit $51.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.24% or 3.05 to trade at $1266.85 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.08% to 346.040, while USD/NGN rose 0.32% to 317.000.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 98.19.
