Nigerian Teachers Sent Abroad For Training Abscond After Graduating – Jigawa State Government

The Jigawa state government has revealed that some teachers sent to different parts of the world for in-service training in different universities have absconded after completing their courses.

Lamenting about the development, the Head of Service Mohammed Inuwa Tahir, said some workers spent about 14 to 15 years studying.

The purpose of sending them abroad was to equip them further and expose them to greater ideas so that they can then bring their expertise back to the country to impact knowledge to the citizens of the country.

He said that the actions of the teachers, which is very disappointing and discouraging, has made the government to disengage the services of some teachers and also indefinitely suspend the in-service training courses.

A special committee has been set up to find other teachers receiving salary without work. The government have called the act of the teachers a betrayal of trust.

In Mohammed’s words,  “Our government will not condone laziness and unfair acts by some of the workers who have the habit of collecting salary and not reporting back to work. ”

The Jigawa state government said to check mate all the existing loopholes, it has created a screening committee to establish and to find out absentees and ghost workers who have no service to offer.
