Nigerians React To Emir Of Katsina’s Marriage To 14 Year Old Girl

The Katsina Emirate Council yesterday said that the marriage of the Emir to a minor, Habiba Isa was irreversible.

This came on the heels of the Christian Association of Nigeria’s Katsina Chapter visit to the Usman in his palace over the marriage, demanding justice on Isa’s behalf.

The Council however noted that there was no going back on the marriage since Isa denied being forced into marriage by the Emir or being forcefully converted to Islam.

A letter supposedly written by Isa’s father was read in which he apologised to the Emirate Council for any embarassment the issue might have caused.

A section of Nigerians have taken to Social Media to have their say on the marriage, with several of the comments leaning towards the term ‘Sexual Pervert’ and how an acid bath would be the best solution.

A particular comment raised was in respect to the Council claiming Isa was not kidnapped and wondering how the Emir identified the young girl who was a student all the way in his palace. “How did he have a conversation with her regarding marriage and she never told her parents about the fact the Emir had approached her?”

Another concluded that the Emir had gone too far and asked, “If somebody abducted his own daughter and married her without his consent, how would he feel?”

Another asked where the “DSS and Police were in order for Isa to be rescued from the very randy old Emir”, further asking if a marriage could take place in any culture of Nigeria without the parents and relations of the girl being there and concluding that what the Emir had done was kidnapping and abduction.

Another Nigerian, who focused on what Isa would be going through now, said that Isa was being denied her childhood with unnecessary responsibilities placed on her and called for an end to the madness.
