No Christmas For Abia Policemen – CP

The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor has suspended all forms of leave for police officers so as to ensure efficient and adequate policing during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The commissioner said during an interview that this suspension would be in place until the end of January.

“As the festive season approaches and people are frantically looking for money, we are sure that there could be a spike in criminal activities. We want to make sure that this does not happen.

“Henceforth, until the end of January, no more casual leave, annual vacations or sleeping at night,” he said.

He said that officers were only allowed a few hours’ rest during the day, as every officer from the commissioner himself to the least ranked person would be out by night to check crime.

Aisabor went on to state that he had a target of achieving the recent paradigm shift to visibility policing, as being championed by the Inspector-General.

“We want to ensure that businessmen travelling to and from Aba do so without any hitch,” he said, adding that officers were already at all entry routes into Abia.
