The Federal Government has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to accept all corps members deployed to them by the National Youth Service Corps.
In a statement on Friday, Abosede Aderibigbe, spokesperson for NYSC said the Secretary to the Government Federation, Babachir Lawal, conveyed the directives in a circular to the MDAs.
The circular, with reference number SGF.15/T/745, read in part, “Government’s attention has been drawn to the growing incidence of rejection of National Youth Service Corps members posted to government establishments.
“To put an end to this undesirable development, it has become necessary to reiterate that the directive that Ministries, Departments and Agencies should not reject youth corps members posted to them for their primary assignment is still in force.”
The SGF said the directive was necessary to maintain the objectives of the NYSC scheme which includes involving Nigerian graduates of specific age category in National development and integration.
The statement added that government’s establishments are also directed to ensure that corps members are actively engaged during their primary assignment.
