The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says two corps members lost their lives in Kaduna orientation camp.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Prince Momoh, announced this on Friday while addressing newsmen as 923 2015 batch ‘B’ Stream II relocated to Kaduna from other states wound up their service year.

On disciplinary cases, Momoh said that two corps members absconded and five others have their service year extended based on varying offences.

“We have 939 corps members passing out today. It is in low key because they are part of the batch ‘B’ that passed out on the 6th of October; so they are part of the batch though they are passing out on different day.

“Sadly, we lost two corps members during their service year, while on disciplinary ground two absconded from service while five have sentence of extension for different periods.

“Those that absconded have to be remobilised to repeat the whole service year minus orientation because that can only be done once.

“And even if they have been paid any money, they will refund the scheme what they are owing as the act stated.

“NYSC has trained millions of Nigerians and they are doing well in their callings.

“We enjoin them to be good ambassadors of the scheme anywhere they find themselves whether in public or private sector.

“They have acquired skills that they can start and be on their own. The NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programme has given them that platform,” the coordinator said. (NAN)
