It seems the long-running saga involving Oscar Pistorius and the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp is finally coming to an end as a court sentenced him to 6 years behind bars.
Pistorius was facing up to 15 years behind bars but due to “substantial and compelling reasons” according to the judge was enough to reduce the sentence.
The judge was of the opinion that Pistorius did not mean to kill his girlfriend contrary to public opinion and that 6 years was okay due to the fact that Pistorius is already a broken man and a fallen hero.
Steenkamp’s family seemed shocked at the short sentence especially since Pistorius can be paroled for good behavior after 2 years, but they said nothing.
