Oyo govt. releases N2bn for salaries of LG workers

The Oyo State Government has released N2 billion to offset part of the salary arrears and related wages owed local government workers in the state.

A statement issued on Friday in Ibadan by Mr Bimbo Kolade, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matter, said the money was sourced from the financial assistance received from the Federal Government.

He pledged that the state government would continue to dialogue with the labour unions in the state to find a lasting solution to the issue of salary payment to local government and state workers.

Kolade said that the administration remains committed to the welfare of the people, especially its workers, noting that concerted efforts were in place to ensure regular payment of salaries and wages.(NAN)
