Pensions board pays N435.7m to beneficiaries in Jigawa

The Jigawa Local and State Government Contributory Pensions Board, said it had paid N435. 7 million as benefits to those who died or retired from service between April 2017 and May 2017.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Suleiman Kiyawa, made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday.

He explained that four categories of people benefited from the payment; the first being 218 workers, who spent 35 years in service or attained 60 years of age; received N273.7 million as gratuity.

“The second category involves 86 persons, who did not reach 35 years in service, who collected N129. 2 million and 37 people, deceased workers, who their next of kin collected N27. 352 million as benefits.

 

 

“The last category of beneficiaries involves those who retired but did not contribute up to the required mandatory period of five years, who collected N1. 441 million,’’ he said.

According to Kiyawa, the board is not indebted to any retired civil servant, whether dead or alive, who left the service of Jigawa State Government.

He lauded the state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru for the prompt payment of gratuity and pension to retired civil servants, and pledged to cooperate with the board. (NAN)
