Phone Thieves In Kogi Set Boy Ablaze To Prevent Being Exposed

Some suspected phone thieves in a community in Kogi state have set ablaze a boy whom they suspected knew their identity and could expose them.

According to The Punch, the incident occurred in Ogugu, Olamaboro LGA of the state last Saturday.

The victim, a 12-year-old boy identified as Ojonugwa was in his home when the thieves stormed the residence.

They reportedly ordered him to lie on the ground and close his eyes, before setting him ablaze.

However, as the suspects fled on their motorcycle, the boy got up and threw himself inside a drum of water.

He was then rushed to hospital.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Edward Onoja reportedly visited the victim in hospital, where he praised his courage in throwing himself into the drum of water.

While urging security agencies to fish out the perpetrators, the governor’s aide reportedly settled the victim’s medical bills.
