PHOTOS: Buhari Receives World Cup Trophy In Abuja

The FIFA world cup trophy is currently on tour as it makes its way around the world and it is currently in Nigeria where President Muhammadu Buhari was there to receive it.

It was the original world cup which was first created in 1974 and is one of only 2 trophies ever used for the FIFA world cup with the original trophy called the Jules Rimlet Trophy was used from 1930 till 1970.

President Buhari received the Trophy ahead of the 2018 Football World Cup with the CHAN Super Eagles Team and Bobsleigh Winter Olympic Team in attendance. They were hosted at the State House on Wednesday the 7th Mar 2018.

The President Buhari was joined by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung, FIFA representative France Christian Karembeu, President Coca-Cola West Africa Mr Peter Njonjo and Chairman House Committee on Sports Hon. Godfrey Gaiya and others.

The president also received the CHAN Super Eagles Team and Bobsleigh Winter Olympic Team in State House.

Nigeria is in group D and have their work cut out for them being in the same group with former winners and historical nemesis, Argentina. The group is rounded out by Croatia and Euro 2016 heroes Iceland.
