Have you ever heard of the expression, Don’t count your chicks before they are hatched?

Apparently, some suspected kidnappers haven’t, as they have been arrested by detectives attached to the Ondo State Police Command for demanding the sum of N10 million from a would-be victim.

The suspects were said to have been apprehended in the Kwara state capital, Ilorin, after the yet-to-be victim alerted the command, Vanguard reported.

In a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, the suspects’ names were given as Dua Audo, Mohammed Seriki, Audu Metua and Adamu Ibrahim.

The suspects reportedly obtained the would-be victim’s phone number and called to tell him to pay a sum of N10 million or he would be abducted.

The victim, 26-year-old Idris Sule, lodged a complaint with the police, giving details of all that transpired in the conversation he had with the attempted kidnappers.

Joseph said three of the suspects were traced through the phone number they used to hold the conversation.

The command’s spokesman said the suspects will be charged to court immediately after the conclusion of investigations.

He promised that the command will continue on the trail of others involved in the botched kidnapping attempt until they are apprehended.
