Police inaugurates 15-member community policing body in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has inaugurated a 15-member “Eminent Peoples Forum’’, to enhance community policing, the command’s spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman, has said.

Usman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna that the forum was a proactive initiative to tackle security challenges in the society.

According to him, its objective is to bring lasting solution to some of the security issues in various communities across the state.

“The eminent peoples’ forum is an inclusive community-oriented policing principle of the Nigerian Police Force, Kaduna State Command.

“This noble initiative is also to fight crime and criminality in the state; It is grassroots policing, because security issue is everyone’s business.”

He said the forum consisted of intellectuals and professionals who had excelled in promoting peace in the society.

“What is expected from the members of the forum is to contribute to addressing security challenges in the state,’’ he said.

Usman said that members of the forum were selected based on their contributions and concerns to security issues in their various communities.

The spokesperson said the 15-member forum has retired AIG Dabo Aliyu as Chairman, with Sheik Ahmad Gumi, and Most Reverend George Dodo as Vice Chairmen, among others. (NAN)
