The Ebonyi Police Command has begun investigation into the death of a 30-year old man, Uduma Nwangele of Egwudihagu community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nwangele was found dead, dumped at the roadside in the area with cuts all over his body.

Confirming the situation to NAN on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr George Okafor, said that the deceased’s younger brother, Chukwuma, reported the matter to the police.

“Chukwuma reported the matter on April 30.”

He said Chukwuma also reported to police that the deceased mentioned three people as his assailants before he died.

“Our officers have visited the scene of the crime, photographed the corpse and deposited it in the mortuary while awaiting the autopsy reports.

“Investigation into the matter is ongoing; no arrest has been made because his assailants ran away after committing the crime.

“We will ensure that the culprits are arrested and determine whether they were actually involved in the murder.

“We would not rely entirely on the information given by the deceased’s brother but ensure that the real suspects are apprehended,” the police officer said.
