Rafa Benitez Confirmed Newcastle Manager

1 Min Read

News coming out now has confirmed that Rafa Benitez has taken over as manager of Newcastle United. The Spaniard takes over from Steve McClaren who was sacked earlier today.

Benitez was manager of Real Madrid but was only in position for a mere six months before being replaced by club legend Zinedene Zidane. Benitez is no stranger to the premier League having managed Liverpool and winning the Europa League with Chelsea.

His first task though will be to take on League leaders Leicester city in the league. The Foxes are riding high 5 points clear at the top of the table. Newcastle on the other hand have been having a torrid time and they’d do well to escape relegation at this point.

Benitez though is a manager who is well placed for a dog fight, he could very well save Newcastle. He will have to work with owner Mike Ashley to save Newcastle from the drop.

Benitez won the Primera League in Spain with Valencia twice between 2001 and 2004.
