As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, grapples with the proposition of postponing the elections or not, a vote was conducted on Saturday amongst the Resident Electoral Commissioners across the country.

According to the vote, 21 RECs rejected the proposal to have the elections postponed which had been scheduled for February 14 and 28, 2015 while 16 others voted in support of a reschedule. Nigeria has 37 RECs, each for a state and the Federal Capital, Abuja.

The outcome of the vote came as Nigerians await INEC’s decision on whether the elections are moved or not.
