Ride-Sharing App, Uber Banned In Italy

The limo service of ride-sharing app, Uber Technologies, Uber Black, has met with a stiff opposition as the Italian government has pronounced a ban on it.

The ban comes after a judge upheld the complaint filed against the company by taxi associations alleging that the service was an “unfair competition” to them.

Uber, a San Francisco-based company which operated the Uber Black services primarily in Milan and Rome was given a total of ten days to comply with the new order pronounced by the judge.

However, the judgement can be appealed but pending the hearing of the appeal case, the ride-sharing app is prohibited from advertising its service.

The company’s other operation, UberEATS food delivery service running in Italy is spared of the court order.

The Italy’s taxi associations had filed the lawsuit which ed tot he banning of Uber Black Services in Italy since December in the case which was presided over by Judge Alfredo Landi from the Ninth Civil Chamber Court of Rome.

The latest court order comes two yar after the Italian court banned the UberPop service.

The move adds to the list of major setbacks faced by the company has more recently, Denmark has introduced a regulation which has made the operation of the ride-sharing app more difficult in the country.
