Rio 2016: Neymar nets fastest Olympic goal ever as Brazil qualifies for final

1 Min Read

Neymar scored the fastest ever goal in Olympic history as Brazil tore Honduras to shreds in the Olympic men’s football semi-final.

The Hondurans played the ball backward on the kick-off only to have Neymar intercept the lazy pass. He found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Luis Lopez and deftly got a touch on the ball before Lopez crashed into him in mid-air.

Lopez stopped Neymar but he didn’t stop the ball, as it bounded slowly into the goal for a 1-0 Brazil lead.

Brazil led Honduras 3-0 at half-time but it’s that quickfire goal that will take all the headlines in Rio

Brazil headed for the final with a 6-0 win that saw Barcelona ace Neymar add a penalty to the fastest goal ever in the Games.

They will face either Nigeria or Germany, the side who beat Brazil 7-1 in the 2014 World Cup semi-final.
