Athletes representing Nigeria in the Rio 2016 Olympics had to resort to desperate measures when it was revealed that they would have to pay their own way.
The athletes took to Twitter and other means to ask for support from people and corporate entities.
Naturally, an outpouring of outrage immediately came from people who saw this as a national disgrace.
The FG has responded through one of its Twitter handles, @DigicommsNG saying that their attention has been drawn to the plight of the Athletes and that their tickets would be paid. They said that funds to make this happen were being released.
