Ritualists Butcher Woman, Cooks Her Parts In Ogun

Residents of Eposo-Akaka community, Isara, a sleepy town in Remo North Local Government of Ogun State, were shocked on Tuesday with the discovery of a shrine where parts of a female student of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Morenikeji Owolabi, 21, were discovered by policemen.

The late victim, who was from Ekiti State, was reportedly lured to the shrine by a herbalist, Femi Awise, who is currently at large.

Men of the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command, have, however, arrested five suspects in connection with the murder.

One of the suspects Adeyemi Ademolu, was the okada rider who conveyed her to the shrine. Also in police net is an apprentice to Awise, Omolaso Taiwo. Others are Lateef Ali, Akinyemi Dare, and Sokoya Wasiu.

The state commissioner of police, Mr Valentine Ntomchukwu, who led journalists to the shrine on Tuesday, said investigation had commenced to unravel the circumstances which led to Morekeji’s murder and the motive behind it.

At the shrine was an iron pot filled with some cooked flesh of the victim. Also discovered was the decomposing legs of the victim dug out of a shallow grave nearby.

However, the head of the victim and other parts were missing. Something that looked like her entrails were placed on a hearth outside and were being smoked.

The local government chairman, Femi Soyemi, who also visited expressed his shock at the discovery.

“I was shocked because I never expected that this kind of horrible and brutal thing exists here,” he said.

Ntomchukwu disclosed that the discovery was a result of his men’s investigation.
