Rivers police kill 11 alleged criminals in shoot out

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers state, Musa Kimo has disclosed the killing of eight suspected kidnappers and three suspected armed robbers in separate shoot outs with police in the state.

He made the disclosure on Tuesday in a news conference presenting his score card in the state capital, Port Harcourt, stating that the success recorded by the police in the state was due to the pro-activeness and professionalism displayed by his men.

In the same vein, he said that six suspected cultists were arrested and 32 firearms were recovered from various criminal gangs between September 8 and 22 by the Rivers State Police Command.

Kimo said the firearms included three AK-47 rifles, 11 pump-action guns, 10 locally-made pistols, three double-barrel guns and three single-barrel guns.

Similarly, he said that seven suspected kidnappers were nabbed and six kidnap victims rescued, while six armed robbery suspects were arrested in the same period.

According to Kimo, vehicles such as BMW X5 Jeep, Toyota Lexus saloon, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Xterra Jeep, and so on were recovered from car thieves who were also found in possession of 101 assorted ammunition.

The commissioner warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state or face the music.
