Samsung on Monday unveiled a new addition to its Galaxy Tab line-up, which will be available in the coming months.

The Galaxy Tab 3 is 7-inch with a 1,024-by-600 pixel display, and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

It has a 3-mega pixel camera on the back and a 1.3-mega pixel front-facing shooter.

The Wi-Fi version will be available globally beginning in May and the 3G version, which can be used to make phone calls, will follow in June.

Samsung said the device will be rolled out gradually, and availability will vary by market.

As for other specs, the Galaxy Tab 3 is powered by a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor and comes with a 4,000 mAh battery, either 8GB or 16GB of storage, and 1GB of RAM.

For those who need more storage, there’s a microSD slot for up to 64GB of additional space.

The South Korean electronic giant’s latest tablet supports full 1080p HD video playback, as well as Bluetooth 3.0, and USB 2.0. It will, of course, provide full access to the Google Play Store, and comes with a number of Google apps such as Maps and YouTube.

In terms of size, the device has a smaller bezel than the previous Galaxy Tab. It measures in at 111.1 x 188.0 x 9.9mm, making it small enough to hold in one hand, Samsung said.

The Wi-Fi version weighs 302g while the 3G version is a tad heavier at 306g.

“With the new Galaxy Tab 3, Samsung has evolved its range of innovative tablets, making them smaller and easier to carry, while increasing the user experience overall,” Samsung said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Samsung released the Galaxy Note 8.0, which comes with the S Pen.
