#SaveMayowa Alleged Scam: LUTH denies knowledge of wrongdoing

1 Min Read

The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH)  has waded into the #SaveMayowa controversy. Earlier in the day, an online blog had alleged that the campaign to save Mayowa Ahmed, a young woman from Ovarian cancer, was a scam.

This was followed by reports that some members of her family were detained by police and there were also videos of actress Toyin Aimakhu at the station speaking to the police.

The Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (CMD LUTH), Idi Araba, Professor Chris Bode has said that the hospital is not aware of any scam.

According to Professor Bode, “I am hearing the case for the first time. The hospital will make proper investigation on her case and we will inform the public as at when due.”

It was alleged that Mayowa does indeed have Stage 4 Ovarian cancer but had been told that she was too far gone to be saved, a fact that her family allegedly knew about.
