Mayowa is indeed sick with Cancer, but it had been made known to them that there was actually no hope of recovery and there was no cure regardless of which hospital she went to.

It was also alleged that the family knew this and still went ahead with the campaign. It was speculated that the family just wanted to keep the money.

Mayowa had reached stage 4 of ovarian cancer and doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she won’t survive it and had advised them to take her home.  The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.
