Security Agents Lock Down NASS Complex, Prevent Members, Staff From Entering

Security agents are preventing Nigerians from entering the National Assembly complex.

This is coming ahead of the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though no official announcement was made as to the time the inauguration would commence, a lot of people had arrived at the complex believing the event should start by 10am, which is when the two chambers sit.

However, stern looking policemen stationed their vehicles at the entrance of National Assembly stopping the Sergeant-at-Arms, journalists, administrative staff and others from entering.

Buhari had on Tuesday morning summoned an emergency meeting of all federal legislators elected on the platform of his party, the All Progressives Congress.

The meeting is slated for the International Conference Centre, which is aimed at resolving the conflict over the election of principal officers of the National Assembly.

The APC had been at loggerheads over the issue, raising suspicions that the party could lose in the game to the Peoples Democratic Party, which has already endorsed Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara of the APC for the Senate presidency and speaker of the House of Representatives.
