Sen. Stella Oduah (PDP-Anambra North) says the ongoing PDP crisis is a normal occurence in party democracy, insisting that the party does not belong to any individual or group.

Oduah disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

She said that PDP was still for the people, adding that the disagreements within the party were normal in every relationship.

“You know human nature, when you have more than one person in any room, there is bound to have different views and different ideas.

“What makes it good is that the three of you can still leave the room and agree in spite of that difference to work together for a common purpose and that purpose is the people.

“I believe as of today and probably tomorrow, PDP is the only party for the people: it is a party where no man or nor woman owns the party.

“It is a neutral platform where your aspirations and inspiration can be actualised and that is the major attraction there.

“So, people can fight themselves, people can disagree but the party is supreme and so the supremacy of the party is what settles the quarrels and the disagreement.”
She said that even the Anambra PDP crisis would also be resolved for the greater good, stressing that no Nigerian state could survive what Anambra had survived over the years.

She, however, said that it was unacceptable for persons who did not participate in an election to be seeking legal means of claiming the mandate.

Oduah, therefore, called on political parties to find a way to resolve their problems.

NAN reports that recently, the PDP has been at the centre of disagreement with the party breaking into different factions to pursue different interests.

However, a stalwart of the party and Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekwerenmadu, insisted that there was no faction in the PDP but rather different interests which would soon be addressed. (NAN)
