Coke, Sevilla

The Spanish team has now won the Europa League an astonishing 3 times in a row.

Liverpool started well and were unlucky not tp get a couple of handball decisions most notably when a Sevilla defender hit the ball with his arm after Daniel Sturridge tried to pass the ball.

Liverpool got the lead though through Sturridge. A pass from Firminho met the Englishman just inside the box and he unleashed a real beauty curling the ball with the outside of his foot where it beat the keeper and nestled into the net.

This was in the 35th minute.

Liverpool had a few more chances with a cross from Nathaniel Clyne missing everyone when it really should have been buried and there was controversy when Dejan Lovren seemed score a goal only for it to be ruled out as offside.

The goal should probably have stood as Daniel Sturridge who was offside didn’t interfere with the ball.

Liverpool went into half time in the ascendency and needing only some discipline to come out on top.

But Sevilla had other plans.

The Spanish team came out smoking in the second half and in less than a minute they were ahead. Kevin Gameiro tucked in a cross from a Sevilla player after good work on the right.

And in the 64th minute Sevilla were ahead. Midfielder Coke getting the better of Mignolet. It was all Sevilla now and 6 minutes later it was three as some shocking defending let Coke again have space to fire past Mignolet to give the Spanish team breathing space.

There was no coming back from this for Liverpool and the rest of the game was played out at an even tempo.

Sevilla have now won the competition 3 times in a row, a feat unprecedented so far.
