Sokoto Govt donates N35m materials to schools, mosques

Sokoto State Government on Sunday donated 80 wireless communication equipment, 10,000 mudus (means of measurement) and 8,000 rubber mats worth N35million to Islamiyya schools/organisations, mosques and preachers.

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state said the gesture was to ensure adequate measurement of goods and services so that unsuspecting customers were not cheated.

Tambuwal, represented by Commissioner for Rural Developmen, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, said the items would facilitate the activities of the beneficiaries.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the facilities for the purposes they were meant for.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, who spoke through the District Head of Dundaye, Alhaji Bello Yakubu,commended the state government for the gesture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the highlight of the event was the distribution of 53 tricycles donated by a Lagos based businessman, Sir Emeka Offor, to some physically-challenged persons. (NAN)
