Stock Exchange Bounces Back With 0.12% Gain

Despite a shaky morning session, the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange bounced back in the afternoon session to record a 0.12% gain compared to a 0.64% loss recorded yesterday, giving a brief respite to investors. The All Share Index moved up by 33 basis points to end the day at 29,014.98 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.97 Trillion.

The total of number of deals recorded on the floor of the local bourse were 3,067 a reduction from 3,721deals sealed yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 217,305,704 while the total value of transactions recorded today was N1.4 Billion.

FO led the gainers chart today adding N5.98 to close at N287.98 followed by NB and FLOURMILL which added N3.49 and N0.95 to close at N133 and N21.85 respectively; ZENITHBANK and ACCESS added N0.21 and N0.18 to close at N17.20 and N4.68 respectively.

The losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N5.99 to close with a share price of N817 followed by UACN and CADBURY who lost N1.19 and N1 to close with share prices of N27.91 and N19.1 respectively; OANDO and INTBREW lost N0.82 and N0.74 to close with share prices of N7.60 and N16.26 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ACCESS with shares valued at N445 Million, MANSARD with shares valued at N55 Million, TRANSCORP with shares valued at N25 Million, FBNH with shares valued at N56 Million and MULTIVERSE with shares valued at N3 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as FO led 12 Gainers against 24 Losers led by NESTLE.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -16.28%.
