A mysterious German tourist, living in Gaurulhos airport in Sao Paolo since he missed a connecting flight in December, has been harassing women at the airport, a report said on Friday.

He did not have enough money to purchase a new ticket, according to the Globo news portal.

In surveillance footage, the roughly two-metre-tall man is seen suddenly standing up and abusing and swinging his fists at a woman who is using her phone.

In another instance, the man attacked a woman who had just walked through an automatic doorway.

Other footage shows the man casually reading a book and he has harassed a total number of six women.

The man, who spends most of his time near the check-in area, arrived in Sao Paolo from Casablanca and missed his flight to New York from where he was to return to Germany.

In a television interview in which he was seen wearing a red rose in his lapel, the man denied harassing the women.

“I didn’t touch the people. I’m not a boxer,” he said.

The man’s three-month tourist visa has run out and police have set him a deadline for when he must leave Brazil which expires at the end of this week.

A spokeswoman for the German Foreign Office said the German consulate in Sao Paulo was working closely with the man and Brazilian authorities. (dpa/NAN)
