A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a stylist, Michael Chika, to four months imprisonment for stabbing a woman with bottle.

Chika, 20, who resides at Utako village, Abuja, pleaded guilty to a count charge of causing grievous hurt and begged the court for leniency.

The Judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave Yusuf an option of N20, 000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.

Sadiq said the punishment would have been stiffer if Chika had not saved the court the pains of protracted prosecution.
The prosecuting counsel, Florence Auhioboh, had told the court that the matter was reported on Sept. 14 at Utako Police Station, Abuja, by one Jenifer Agigla of Utako village.

Auhioboh said that on the same date at about 4. p.m., the complainant and Chika had a misunderstanding, while Chika violently used bottle and stabbed the complainant on the neck and other parts of his body.

She said that the complainant raised an alarm which attracted other neighbours and she was caught and handed over to the police.
She said that the complainant was rushed to the Wuse General Hospital and the medical treatment amounted to N 37, 000.
Auhioboh told the court that Chika also damaged one Ngozi Nwachukwu’s glass cups and four bottles of Heineken, all valued at N29, 500
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened the Provisions of Sections 247 and 327 of the Penal Code.
