A tenant in Ondo State has been arrested for beating his 75-year-old landlord identified as Pa. Kayode Osunkalu to death.
The middle aged tenant, Tope Akideji who was arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command was said to have beat his Landlord to death over electricity bill.
The incident occured at 17 Ayeferere street, Ondo West LGA in Ondo was reported to have started with an argument between the septuagenarian landlord and his middle aged tenant over the payment of the electricity bill served to the house by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.
According to a source, the landlord ordered the payment of the electricity bill in the space of 24 hours, the source continued that; “Akideji held his landlord’s shirt for several minutes and allegedly beat him up. Pa Osunkalu slumped and was rushed to the State Hospital where he was later confirmed dead by the doctors.”
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kunle Omisakin, while confirming the incident said that the suspect has been arrested and since been transferred to the homicide section of the Police department in Akure.
The remains of the Landlord has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital Mortuary.
